I’ve had this site a few years. I thought it would be a good thing to do given the marketing viability of alliterations and because something gave me pause in November of 2019–for some reason I felt something bad coming. Given the fires and everything else, I assumed it would be a climate event over a virus coming to level us all. Certainly, though, the timing wasn’t off in terms of a viral pandemic as that seemed to be an every hundred year thing and it almost arrived on time to the year. I could never have predicted how badly we would fail this test of our cooperation and humanity, but perhaps we had to fall like this to see it again. We’ve let ourselves get so snowed in our pursuit of one of the only things we seem to have as a country and that is money.
Money is making all our decisions now, and it’s usually the people with the most who want to be the stingiest with it. If you think about how much we all put in collectively to our country every year federally and even in state and local city fees, there is an enormous amount of money being collected not to subsidize us all the time, but to subsidize a lot of really very rich people who are doing fine to make even more money off our backs.
There is nothing unreasonable in expecting our government and business to get together to establish a national healthcare plan now that their malfeasance has led us to this road we sit on right now. There are tens of millions if not a hundred million plus who have been infected along the way and with the previous stuff I listed, a large swath of this country now has a pre-existing medical condition that will affect our future health no matter if we didn’t get infected. All of those unpaid medical bills will close local hospitals and bankrupt swaths of America. We will have enough problems to contend with dealing with the illness itself and getting good medical care that it is the only acceptable payment for what they have done to us. Sure, as citizens we hold some responsibility, but given government is supposed to be guiding us and leading us even against our own worst inclinations, they have failed miserably.
